The 3 important legs of Observability

Introduction:

The world around us is evolving very quickly with the onset of Generative AI. Observability, known as the next generation of monitoring of Applications/Infrastructure, is typically based on understanding the Logs, Traces, and Metrics of internal states of systems and external outputs. Generative AI, on the other hand, focuses on creating content from text to images.

The meeting of the two (Observability and Generative AI) presents an amazing opportunity for exploration, a likely transformative approach to managing complex IT Infrastructure & Application landscapes.

Observability:

Yesterday’s monitoring included a very reactive approach to gathering and then reacting to alerts during an IT outage. With Observability, there are opportunities to understand the performance of the systems, their behaviors providing deep insights into the IT Infrastructure & Application landscape. The detailed collection of Metrics, Logs, and Traces about these IT systems now presents an opportunity to understand trends, occurrence of issues, and detailed root cause analysis. The main purpose of Observability is to not only detect issues but rather understand the patterns and the reason why they occurred and prevent…
