#5 — Transforming Chaos into Success: Lessons from “The Phoenix Project”

Back in the middle of 2022, I had an opportunity to read “The Phoenix Project” book by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr, and George Spafford, gifted by one of my colleagues who was leaving our firm. It is an excellent book in many ways as it helped connect the dots in terms of the challenges, drive parallels to the current IT landscape, and the transformation journeys that clients can take to change their businesses.

The Struggles:

The book and its characters mainly revolve around IT/IT Leadership/Project management of a company called ‘Parts Unlimited’ that is facing severe headwinds in the market, downtime & outages in their application landscape, major project escalations, going over budget, delayed deployments, and customers that are going away due to IT and Business challenges. It’s essentially what we see happening in the industry time and time again; many organizations face these similar challenges in the world of the modern business landscape.
